Perhaps no leader of the ancient world is more closely associated with snakes than Cleopatra. Serpent was a proniment motif in jewelry of the ancient world. Bulgari's snake became instantly famous when Elizabeth Taylor wore one in a publicity photograph taken in 1962, on the set of Cleopatra movie, and then, she bought the jewel for her self to celebrate her million-dollar contract Cleopatra.
This jewel is a glorious example of one-of-a-kind snake bracelets Bulgari "Serpent" series designed from around 1950 trough the 1970s. Bracelet-watch is in gold and platinum, set with rubies and diamonds. It has circular-cut ruby eyes and the head is couvered by marquise-cut diamonds. It also appears in the Bulgari book "125 ans of Magnificence italienne". Manufactured by ", Carlo Illario e Fratelli, Valenza Po', and retailed by Bulgari in the mid 1960's. Diamond-set bezel and Omega movement. 187 grams and 58,5 length.
